    1st
Infantry Division. Its history begins with the Jaeger Battalion which was created in 1796 and upgraded into regiment ten years later. The newly established Guards regiment in respect of its military valor and combat glory was not inferior in any way to the famous Preobrazhensky or Semenovsky regiments. It came upon a baptism of fire at Austerlitz, took part in the defeat and expulsion of the French from Russia in 1812, fought in the battles for Kulm, Haji-Gassan-Lar, Telish and other battles. The history of the regiment is inextricably linked with the names of Prince P.Bagration, K.Bystrom, Prince Ye.Obolensky, poet E.Baratynsky. In addition to the regimental history and biographies of the most eminent Leib-Jagers, the book includes fragments of memoirs covering literally the entire history of the regiment - from the first Napoleonic wars to the events of the First World War, described in detail in the little-known "Memoirs" of Gen. B.V.Gerua published in Paris in 1969 year.
The book is richly illustrated with a number of reproductions and unique photographs, including those taken from the collection of the Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineering and Communication troops.
The book is addressed to everyone loving the glorious past of our Motherland and interested in the Russian history, in particular the history of the Russian army.
    An exciting and reliable reference
for historians, collectors and reenactors, as well as for anyone interested in the history of the Russian army.
